23 December 2019

Imperial has appointed Jan Lohrengel to the newly-created post of Vice President Commercial Automotive. He takes up his new position on January 1st.

Reporting to Holger Wilhelm, Executive Vice President Commercial Automotive, and based in Duisburg, Lohrengel will be responsible for developing future strategy, including establishing strategic alliances. He will help to build regional sales teams to support business growth and, leveraging Imperial’s existing strong capabilities in automotive, will lead the design of bespoke logistics solutions for multinational clients across all geographies.

A graduate engineer, Lohrengel is a highly-experienced automotive logistics specialist whose career has included planning and introducing logistics concepts across Europe at automobile component manufacturer Johnson Controls Interiors; and managing supply chain activities in Germany and the Czech Republic for the automotive division of industry supplier Linden GmbH.

Most recently, he was Global Business Development Manager Contract Logistics at DB Schenker, responsible for key international automotive accounts.

Says Imperial Logistics Chief Commercial Officer Sandro Knecht: “The Automotive sector is currently undergoing profound transformation, driven by stricter emissions standards and the move towards e-mobility. In response, Imperial is adapting and rethinking long-standing service models, and developing new ones.

“Jan Lohrengel’s appointment to our automotive commercial team reflects the growing importance of tier suppliers within future supply chains. His considerable experience in components logistics will ensure our service offerings remain relevant and responsive.”
